"Welcome Home Summit's" - Answering the call to Veteran Support

Oct 25, 2013

Answering the call for veteran support!

There are more than 70 million reasons why the Armed Forces Motorsports Foundation (AFMF) was created, and "The Welcome Home Summit” Program was launched – it's simple…to better serve our veterans and their families.

AFMF in collaboration with Speedway Motorsports Inc., Warrior Gateway, and Veteran Owned Business are working together to help veterans get the support they need – right in their own backyard!

The Welcome Home Summit is a one stop shop resource fair for veterans and their families designed to deliver much needed support -directly to those in need. These two-day events will bring veterans and their families together with hundreds of resource organizations, as well as local, state and federal agencies who can provide the needed support.

"These Summits promote positive community relations and present active duty military, veterans and their families with many opportunities to address critical issues facing their everyday lives,” said Brittany Ecker, Director of Partnerships. "The Welcome Home Summit also advocates networking between different veteran support organizations which improves business to business relations; enhancing the quality of veteran support services, and in turn, helping thousands of active duty military, veterans and their families get the support they need,” Brittany added.

The Summits will help veterans find solutions to issues ranging from benefits, education, employment, housing, legal, disabilities, mental health, and family &children services. "We are expecting to have more than 500organizations represented and working together to answer the needs of our veterans - directly to their backyard,” she added.

The Armed Forces Motorsports Foundation is a Virginia-based, federally registered 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization founded by a retired U.S. Marine, and his daughter, both of whom share a passion for helping our veterans. The father – daughter team also started a company called Armed Forces Motorsports, a preeminent professional motorsports organization racing to Honor and Support our Veterans. "As these brave veterans come home, it is important that we all do our part to understand their needs and help in their transition back into civilian life. Through our racing organization and the foundation, we can give back to those servicemen and women,” said Ecker.
